The Immaculate unique 7 step upholstery Cleaning Process

Cleaning Process

Our Unique upholstery cleaning Process.

1. Pre spotting during upholstery cleaning

All spots and stains will have to be pre treated with the correct spotting agent to ensure the best possible result when removing marks. Our cleaning teams are trained to ask what has caused a mark and if the client cannot remember, to use logical deduction and sensory perception to determine what would be the best chemical to use prior to cleaning as a spotter.

2. Piping and heavily soiled areas in upholstery cleaning process

All piping and high wear areas are hand pre treated and agitate with a hand brush made of soft blue nylon fibres, especially designed for cleaning of fabric to ensure the best outcome. Hand scrubbing helps to access the nooks and crannies where little creepy crawlies get stuck and dust that has not been removed from regular house hold vacuuming , as well as you are able to vary the pressure unlike a machine driven scrubber.

3. Pre Spray

All pile upholstery is pre-sprayed with the correct detergent for the fibre of the fabric. This is important as different fibres react differently to different chemicals. There is no such thing as a generic upholstery shampoo. The soiling on the upholstery will also determine if other chemicals should be used on particular areas as well as the amount of detergent that is applied. In some cases the fibre of the fabric used to cover your upholstered item cannot take water and has to be cleaned with a waterless solvent. This method is not very effective in removing water born stains and will leave a residual odour for up to 72 hours when correctly aired and dried with as much fresh air and sunlight to evaporate the solvent as quickly as possible. If you are sensitive to the odour we recommend that the upholstery gets collected and cleaned at our factory and returned once dried and aired

4.  Scrubbing or agitation in our upholstery cleaning

This is an essential action in the cleaning of your sofa, lounge suite or arm chairs as well as all other upholstery. The dirt needs to be agitated to loosen it from the fibres. It replaces that rubbing action when hand cleaning an item of clothing or the mechanical action of a washing machine. Immaculate have specially designed hand scrubbing brushes made with a soft blue nylon bristle, they are not floor scrubbing brushes. If you are concerned ask our teams if you can feel one.

5. Vacuum ,Extraction

This is the suction, vacuum motion of extracting the shampoo and dirt from the upholstery. It is done by a machine that has 2 tanks. 1 empty one and one filled with clean water and a PH corrective. Attached to this machine is a concertina hose. At the end of this hose is attached a hand wand with a flat head at the one end. The shampoo and water is sucked up by the extraction flat head. The flat head is systematically pushed up and down in rows there by extracting the dirt from the upholstery. It is this machine that leaves the lines on the pile. And the pile has to be set all in one direction to ensure a perfect finish once dry.

6.  A Ph corrective.

It is the ph corrective that is applied to the upholstery that assists with avoiding water marks and browning. A Ph corrective should be administered especially in the case of a natural fibre fabric that are wet cleaned, to help reduce the possibility of browning and also it will lift the colours of a brightly coloured fabric .All fibres have a natural Ph that enhances their appearance.

7. Pile setting or grooming after cleaning upholstery

All fabrics that have a pile however minimal should have the pile set standing up. This ensures that there is an easy flow of air through the fibres ensuring a quicker drying time and a revitalised pile which is all lying in the same correct direction. It also gets rid of the pressure marks left behind by the steam machine and possibly the hand scrubbing.
